I have always loved Helena Bonham Carter, loving the characters she plays in films from witches, to queens to a monkey in Plant of the Apes. She is by far my favourite actress, mother, role model and star in the world. I can't quite gush about her enough. Her attitude towards stereotypes and what people think of her is amazing, setting an example to all young girls to do what they want to do rather than being told what to do. Do what makes you happy. Intelligent, quirky and funny. It also helps that she is beautiful too!
My heart skipped a beat when I saw her on the cover of this months Vogue! Her porcelain skin and dark hair are to die for and she looks like such an English rose. Not looking like her age, she is every part of class and sophistication. Love the vintage style photo shoot, fascinator hats, dark brows and red lips!

GFW Set Up...
So the time has come to showcase our work at Graduate Fashion Week and I couldn't be more nervous or excited. It has come around so quick & I don't feel like I've had time to think, with the photo shoots, videos happening etc. I am glad that is coming to an end as I don't think I can muster up anything more to give at the moment but I am also sad that it is ending and that is 4 years of my life gone and we'll be going our separate ways. I am excited for the next stage of my life though, something new to look forward to!
Setting up the stand was a good experience, got to see the whole class's work coming together, laying it out in a way to invite people to come and have a look and to see everyone's hard work finished. Also to spy on the other uni's work and to see what they have been up to. As we include textiles on our course we had to cater for everyone's work to shine out against the other universities. I think by having textiles, it gives us a different edge even though it is GFW. Most of the time things can go either way, interiors, fashion so you can't rule anything out. Everyone's work looked amazing & you can tell people's personalities have come out in their work.
We have kindly been sponsored by Offkut who gave us all of our furniture we've used. I really want some of their lights!

Final Photographs...
I've been so excited to see my final photographs from the photo shoot last week! It was exciting to see them being shot, to now see them on paper forever to keep! I am so proud of my work and the work Jason done. It really captures the look I was going for and I love my close ups of the details I have put into my embroidery.

Jason Little Photo Shoot...
Excited for the photo shoot & getting my whole collection shot for my portfolio. Great to see the final outcomes in a professional environment. Just have to wait for the final printed versions. It got suggested to me by Jason Little the photographer, to use a green background rather than a grey or a white backdrop. I was a bit apprehensive as I did not know whether the green would blend in with some of my green garments. Knowing he knows more about it than I do, I trusted him and I'm so glad I did! I loved it! The green worked so well to make the whole collection and theme more grungier and moodier like I wanted it.
The whole day was a success and I left feeling very proud and excited to see the finals. This has been what I've been working towards for since February and to see it all finished is a little over whelming. A special thanks to Jason, the hair & makeup specialists & Abbie Martin for being a great model!

Final 2 garments...
Final 2 garments on their way to being finished! Really proud of the way they have been going. Can't wait to get them photographed & put into portfolio. I love the combination of print and embroidery to use different layers on my garments. Also the distressed look of how some of the prints have been coming out, not perfect, and this is what I wanted.

Coming Together At Last...
Been a bit hectic recently, trying to get everything finished in time for videos and photoshoots! I've been loving it though, great to see the collection coming together at last! 4 outfits finished for the video. The video was a great experience to work with a different department, learn how those types of things generally work and to see the collection two 3rds of the way finished, I left feeling a little proud. Even though I was the last person to go & it was an extremely long day it was worth it and everyone done their best. I loved the way the beading glittered underneath the studio lights, really sparkled and showed the designs well.
Now on to do the final two...!

A Little Catch up...
A few images to show what I have been up to. I've really been getting into my embroidery which takes up all of my time! Which would be annoying for anyone else but I just love it! I love buying new beads and thinking of how I can use them.
